In 2016, I began my entrepreneurial venture as a wholesaler, with an inventory of skirts stitched by my mother at home. With no store or marketing budget, I relied on a Facebook page to promote my products. Those were the early days of India’s digital revolution, when millions of people were joining social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Over the next few years, I leveraged these platforms to build a strong customer base of over 10,000 people through engaging conversations and product photos. My business grew steadily, while I also managed to balance a full-time job as an animator.
It wasn’t until I participated in a Walmart Vriddhi program in December 2022 that I decided to become a full-time entrepreneur. The program equipped me with the essential knowledge to expand Rajputana Enterprise – my venture. Understanding topics like brand value, supply chain development, and product presentation gave me a fresh perspective.
With this newfound understanding, I was able to transform my business. Today, I have design units staffed by craftsmen and artisans that push out a large and growing range of women’s clothing like skirts, lehengas, kurtis and more to customers across the country, under the brand Raj Prince.
The Walmart Vriddhi program also taught me the importance of networking and building relationships with suppliers. This has been crucial to expanding my product lines and ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality raw materials.
Through Flipkart, I am now able to sell to customers even in South India which was not feasible earlier. With customers from across the country, I can showcase the essence of traditional Rajasthani culture through my clothes. My sales have soared, and I have a much larger customer base ever since I began selling through Flipkart. Apart from Flipkart, I have also focused on improving my online presence and customer engagement. By regularly updating my social media accounts and interacting with customers, I have been able to maintain a strong connection with my audience and gather valuable feedback to further improve my products.
With the confidence that customers have now started recognizing my brand, Raj Prince, I decided to start my own B2C website with the help of Walmart Vriddhi. I plan to expand Rajputana Enterprise’s portfolio by strengthening my online presence through this website.
To encapsulate, my journey demonstrates the power of MSMEs in India and how embracing the digital revolution can lead to significant business growth.
By leveraging social media platforms and participating in programs like Walmart Vriddhi, entrepreneurs like me can transform their small businesses into nationwide successes.
